Plunge! programs are week-long and offered for school-aged children (jk-gr. 6) with opportunity for older children and youth to learn about serving as helpers.
Similar to Quench! events, the most important goal of these opportunities is to meet the spiritual needs of the children who attend and to immerse them in God's love. This can be in the form of needing a safe space to discover their worth, needing to know that God loves them just as they are, and needing to learn how to get along with others in community.
Plunge! programs are designed to run from 9:00am-noon with bumper time of supervised recreation before and after. There are also options included for adding an afternoon program throughout the week to make it a day camp opportunity. A minimum of 10 and a maximum of 80 children is recommended, and it is assumed that churches provide these opportunities with careful adherence to their own denomination's safety and duty of care policies, including appropriate ratios of equipped volunteers to children.
All Plunge! programs have a theme relating to Christian values or specific stories from the Bible. Some are based on a movie with important faith themes that are then tied directly to scripture. Each day is structured with full group opening and closing, age-related home groups and a variety of workshops which explore the theme, as well as lunch and various group activities for those opting for a full day program. All are designed for fun, intentional learning in a variety of styles and flexibility is built in for varying sizes of groups.
