After resourcing Christian education programs for years, and then experiencing church decline and the lingering impact of COVID on church attendance, my focus in ministry has shifted.
I’ve been led into worship leadership with the reality that many clergy are close to, or already, retired and they are not being replaced. Many churches are struggling to keep their doors open and to pay even a half-time minister if they can find one. The reality is that the laity are relied on more and more to lead in their congregations and, particularly, to provide worship.
NEW Free Resource - Worship 101: A Guide to Planning and Leading
This fall I partnered with Ministry Forum to produce a free resource for novice and more experienced worship leaders - Worship 101: A Guide to Planning and Leading. In it you will find background in how worship works and the theology behind it, how it is put together, how to approach choosing scriptures and music and overall planning, tips and resources, helpful links, and checklists.
You can access it below in two formats: a digital version with fillable checklists that you can use completely online, and a printable PDF version. It’s the same content but just acknowledges people’s varying needs and preferences.
My prayer is that Worship 101 will equip and inspire many worship leaders across a variety of denominations, especially those struggling to feel confident in stepping into this role. I’m so grateful to the people at Ministry Forum for making it look so good!

Also NEW - God’s Story for All Seasons
This has been another dream of mine - to create worship liturgy resources for people who are
a) overwhelmed by writing so many prayers for a service, and/or
b) struggling to choose scriptures week to week, and/or
c) trying to help the biblically illiterate in their pews to understand the arc of the Bible’s narrative.
While many worship leaders enjoy the Revised Common Lectionary (RCL), I felt led to design an alternative that covers more biblical stories, that dives more deeply into the characters, and that would take people on a journey of seeing more clearly connections between time periods in the Bible (i.e. linking prophetic words and later events, as well as early events and later references to them).
So many core stories aren’t found in the RCL, or aren’t included in their fullness. So many people don’t understand the rhythm of the church seasons and their meaning, or basic stories we take for granted that everyone learned in Sunday school. For those who are spiritually seeking, that is background they generally don’t have (and, let’s face it, those who have been in the pews for decades sometimes don’t know this information either or haven’t made the connections).
I’m thrilled to make available worship units with liturgy for up to eight complete services through God’s Story for All Seasons. Each unit includes a scripture focus and suggested supporting passages for every service, music suggestions, Calls to Worship, prayers, spring-board ideas for children’s time and sermons, and benedictions. The units are in digital format only and e-mailed to you as a PDF attachment. Take a closer look and check out a sample service to get a feel for what is included on the God’s Story for All Seasons page.
***Please note that because these units are a download, there is no refund option available.***
